| Discussion |
|
Thursday, May 15: Surface high pressure building over the western Great Lakes will generate moderate northeasterly winds in Columbus. These winds will bring a clean, dry airmass into the area. In addition, overcast skies will limit ozone formation. As a result, AQI levels will be Good.
Friday, May 16: A low pressure system passing just south of Ohio will enhance mixing and produce moderate northerly winds in Columbus, dispersing pollutants and keeping AQI levels Good.
Saturday and Sunday, scattered rain showers in the Ohio River Valley will aid particle formation. However, upper-level low pressure and moderate westerly winds will keep the atmosphere well-mixed and AQI levels Good on both days. Monday, moderate northwesterly winds will disperse pollutants and mostly cloudy skies will limit ozone formation, resulting in Good AQI levels. Tuesday, a low pressure system passing south of Ohio will cause moderate northwesterly winds to continue in Columbus, dispersing pollutants. In addition, mostly cloudy skies will keep ozone concentrations low. Therefore, AQI levels will remain Good.
